Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)

Directed by: Patty Jenkins

Written by: Patty Jenkins, Geoff Johns, Dave Callaham & William Moulton Marston.

Starring: Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal.

The story of this film fast-forwards to 1984, where Diana (Gal Gadot) is still mourning her boyfriend, Steve (Chris Pine), when things begin to change. Diana befriends her clumsy work colleague, Barbara (Kristen Wiig), when a mysterious artifact needs to be identified, and things start to turn dangerous when the discovery of this artifact becomes public.

Upon watching this film, I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed the 2 hours and 10 minutes of it. I am not a hardcore DC/Marvel Fan, but I want to see the films, as they are always action-packed and immerse viewers into the story.

I will not be giving any spoilers or revealing anything about this film, as it is something people need to visit their cinemas and watch, if possible. I was lucky enough to have visited the cinema and watched this film.

Gal Gadot plays WW very well indeed, and although this film doesn’t have her in her gorgeous costume very much, the wardrobe choices were excellent. I loved every style she wore, and when I saw the first trailer, I was not entirely sure on the casting of Kristen Wiig as Barbara, but she actually surprised me and played her role brilliantly. Pedro Pascal also manages to play his villain role very well, and this is not the first time he has portrayed a villain, as he also played one in Kingsman: The Golden Circle. I recall him from that film and thought he did a great job in this one as well.

I am not sure what else I can say without giving away what happens in the film, so I will simply summarize to say that this film was enjoyable to watch. If possible, I recommend visiting your local cinema and watching it on the big screen, as it is a perfect way to experience it. Viewers get to see Diana as a child at the start, and her will to compete and be involved in daring competitions, which feature some fantastic action scenes, as well as romance scenes (when fast-forwarding to 1984), and a few laughs too.

For anyone unsure about watching this at the cinema, please try your best to visit the cinema and watch this film, and help the entertainment industry as much as possible during this difficult time.

I give this film a 5 star rating

Rating: 5 out of 5.
