Jexi (2019)

Directed and written by: Jon Lucas & Scott Moore.

Starring: Adam Devine, Alexandra Shipp, Rose Byrne, Wanda Sykes, Michael Pena.

A comedy film about a single male who is addicted to his phone. He has no friends, has a job writing pop culture top 10 lists and has no love life. He upgrades his phone by no fault of his own, after his old one smashes.

The new phone he buys has a feature called “Jexi” who is similar to Siri but on an advanced level, and ends up controlling his whole life! Jexi ends up being foul-mouthed but in a funny and sassy way – which has made me cry with laughter throughout the film.

It is a great film to show how reliant we are on our phones without realising just how much a small device takes over everything in our lives, and we store most of our valuable information onto our phones with no thought of how the information is processed and stored. Although this film is a comedy based around a young guy who loves his phone, I feel this is also giving a message on how much we rely on a small device every day of our lives and not taking notice of the world around us.

This film is from the writers of Bad Moms and also The Hangover so it makes sense for the film to be as funny as it is, and moments where I have found myself in tears of laughter. I really enjoyed this film and loved the scene with Wanda Sykes, I think shes great!.
