Jexi (2019)

Directed and written by: Jon Lucas & Scott Moore.

Starring: Adam Devine, Alexandra Shipp, Rose Byrne, Wanda Sykes, Michael Pena.

A comedy film about a single male who is addicted to his phone. He has no friends, works as a writer of pop culture top 10 lists, and has no love life. He upgrades his phone by no fault of his own, after his old one smashes.

The new phone he buys has a feature called “Jexi,” which is similar to Siri but on an advanced level, and ends up controlling his whole life! Jexi ends up being foul-mouthed throughout the film.

It is a great film that shows how reliant we are on our phones without realizing just how much a small device takes over everything in our lives. We store most of our valuable information on our phones without giving a thought to how the data is processed and stored. Although this film is a comedy centered around a young man who loves his phone, I believe it also conveys a message about how much we rely on small devices every day of our lives and fail to notice the world around us.

This film is written by the writers of Bad Moms and The Hangover, so it’s no surprise that the film is as funny as it is, with moments that have left me in tears of laughter. I really enjoyed this film and loved the scene with Wanda Sykes. I think she’s great!.

If you haven’t seen this film yet, I recommend giving this a watch, it will definitely make you laugh and is a great uplifting and chilled film for the evening, if you liked Bad Moms and you liked The Hangover movies – you will CERTAINLY love this film too!
