A paraplegic Marine (Sam Worthington) is dispatched to the moon Pandora on a unique mission. Still, he becomes torn between following his orders and protecting the world he feels is his home.
Since being with my boyfriend, he has introduced me to films like this one, as I have never sat down to watch Avatar (I know, it’s a shock!). Despite my brother trying to persuade me to watch this, as he has the DVD in 4K, it just hasn’t been top of my radar until recently.
I became comfortable, and my boyfriend and I sat down to watch this on a weekend evening in November, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I don’t know why I left it so long to watch this, but I guess everyone was right when they told me, “I am missing out” – that I certainly was.
From the start of the film, I became hooked. I enjoyed all the film had to offer, from the colours within the film, to the shots taken, to the casting, and beyond. I enjoyed the story Cameron created for Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), as the main plot of the story was around his deceased identical twin.

He begins to enjoy life in the Avatar world better than in the real world, due to being able to walk again. He begins his assignment as a good soldier before his life is saved by a native avatar named Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) and becomes more and more native to where he decides he prefers his avatar life to his human life and makes a choice towards the end of the film to stay in his avatar form and live his life as an avatar.
I thought I would never be into films such as this, but I shed a few tears along the way and really enjoyed the movie. I will be writing a review on Avatar: The Way of Water – keep a lookout for that.
If you’re like me and haven’t seen the film yet, I highly recommend setting aside a few hours to watch it. It is GREAT!
I cannot wait for the new film, which is rumoured to be released in 2025. We will see..
For now, I provide my verdict for this film:
I rate this film 5 stars
