Doctor Sleep (2019)

Directed by: Mike Flanagan

Written by: Mike Flanagan & Stephen King

Starring: Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson, Kyliegh Curran, Cliff Curtis and many other cast members who are not main castings.

Set years ahead of the events of The Shining from 1980, a now adult Dan Torrence has to protect a young girl who has similar powers from a cult “The True Knot” which is known to target on children with powers to remain immortal.

Day eight of the Netflix October Halloween Calendar and upon watching a few other Stephen King films, this one was better than expected and considering how many films seem to be these days, especially “horror” films, this one did not disappoint and had me on the edge of my seat throughout the duration of the film.

Considering this was a follow up, years later, from the film The Shining, it definitely was worth watching, and these kinds of films are what I like to call actual Horror movies and was well worth the whole duration (over two hours).

The acting, the directing, even the specific shots and music throughout the film was great and a great way to keep the viewer watching right to the end.

A short, but sweet film review with this one, and it is available to stream still on Netflix – if you are a fan of all other Stephen King films, then you will enjoy this one, too!

I rate this film 5 stars

Rating: 5 out of 5.
