Upcoming Films, 2021

As it is approaching the end of October, many of us are looking forward to Halloween and then Christmas time. It is already getting much colder, so here are a few of my highlights which I am most excited for, which will be shown on the big cinema screen, from now until the end of the year;

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (2001); 20th Anniversary

At the end of October, it marks the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and to mark this occasion many cinemas, including Vue cinema’s, are going to be showing this film. If you have a cinema near you and there are still tickets available, I highly recommend taking a trip to your local cinema to watch this!

Eternals (2021)

Eternals is the next film from Marvel, which follows the events from Avengers: Endgame (2019), where something unexpected happens which brings the Eternals out of the shadows to fight against mankind’s ancient enemy named The Deviants.

This film is starring; Richard Madden, Gemma Chan, Kit Harrington, Salma Hayek, Lauren Ridloff, Kumail Nanjiani, Angelina Jolie, and Harry Styles.

I have noticed a lot of mixed reviews surrounding this film, but I for one am rather looking forward to watching this, and over the past few years have become a fan of Marvel, I love action films, and it helps that Richard Madden is in this film, he’s very handsome!

This film is due for release in the beginning of November 2021. Look out for the review for it, from me, I will be writing one :).

Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)

THIS is probably THE MOST excited I have been about this film, and I am literally counting down the days until I can finally see it! Everytime this comes on, on trailers at work, or adverts when I am watching TV, or on YouTube, I always stop what I am doing (if I am journalling, planning my week, catching up with emails etc) to watch the trailers, despite seeing it a number of times already!

I was like this with Free Guy and ended up being obsessed with watching it for weeks, I have a feeling the same will happen with this film. I really hope there is a London premiere red carpet for this film, because I really would love to meet the cast, especially Paul Rudd aka Mike Hannigan from Friends, and Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler from Stranger Things).

This film is FINALLY coming to cinema’s in the next few weeks!! I for one am VERY excited for it, and from the reviews already given (which I have read online, and have literally (before writing this) watched Movie World/Popcorn Planet on YouTube review this film, it is really increasing my excitement, and November needs to HURRY UP!!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE watch this film when its released, it looks SO SO GOOD and its definitely a sequel to the ORIGINAL Ghostbusters (1984) – which, yes, I enjoyed too!!!

This film has two post credit scenes too, one mid credit, and one end credit, AHHHHH!

SO EXCITED FOR THIS ONE.

Home Alone (1990) & Home Alone 2: Lost In New York

In December, Vue Cinema will be showing this classic on the big screens, I am unsure whether all cinema’s will, whether Cineworld, or Odeon or any independent cinema’s will, but from what I know with the cinema I particularly work in, we are showing this film in December 2021.

If, like me, you were not old enough, or only a few months old when these two films originally released in cinema’s then I would recommend experiencing this classic film on the big screen, as I will be doing!

I love all things Christmas, and this film, along with Home Alone 2: Lost In New York, Elf, and also National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, really get me into the mood for Christmas, and as we are not in national lockdown within the UK this year, this is a great opportunity to experience these classic films on the big screen for the first time, if you have not before!

Another classic film being brought back to the big screen JUST IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS.

Elf is a classic, and, as I have said previously, without these types of films being shown, whether on TV at home, or one off’s at the Cinema, then is it really Christmas? These are classic films, and are worth the watch on the big screen to experience it with amazing surround sound, too!

Spider-Man: No Way Home

Tom Holland stars in this final Homecoming saga of Spider-Man, another Marvel film. This is another film I am VERY excited about, because there has been SO MUCH speculation online about who’s going to return to this film, and it is certainly going to be one of the biggest films to end this year within the Marvel Universe.

This film is released in the middle of December 2021, right before Christmas, so this is certainly a great present for me, although I would still prefer the real Tom Holland.. :P. For those who have seen Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage, and have seen the mid-credit scene, that IS ME when I see photos of Tom Holland… lol.

What films are you guys looking forward to the most?

Are there any other films you are excited about?

Let me know 🙂
